Miles has been a litigation lawyer since 2013. He began as an employed barrister to a civil litigator and appeared in a range of civil disputes in the High Court and Court of Appeal.
In 2016, Miles took up a role with a respected senior criminal barrister based in Auckland. Miles conducted defence work throughout New Zealand in the District Court, High Court and Court of Appeal. In 2019, he took up the opportunity to join the prosecution team at Manukau Police Prosecutions, where he remained until entering sole practice in 2021.
Miles is a reliable and respected advocate, who now regularly appears in the District and High Court on a range of pre-trial matters such as bail and name suppression, as well as at substantive fixtures for trial (both Jury and Judge-alone) and sentencing. He has experience conducting and assisting with criminal appeals to the High Court and Court of Appeal.
Miles accepts pro bono work through Te Ara Ture, an access to justice initiative operated by Community Law Centres o Aotearoa. Outside of the office, Miles enjoys getting out and about with his wife and their dog Lenny.
